ALLEN, TX-It was a long journey to Colorado as the Wranglers took to the road with the goal of defeating the previously 10-2 Colorado Ice at home. When all was said and done, the Wranglers walked out of Colorado with a 57-37 victory over the Ice and a standout performance from Wrangler newcomer Keithon Flemming.
Flemming ended his debut Wrangler performance with a 5 touchdowns and over 115 yards of offense on the night. No stranger to the Wrangler organization, Flemming was one of the first to sign with the team in early September but left for an opportunity in the Canadian Football League. His return to the Wranglers came at just the right time.
"It feels great to be a part of the Wranglers again," Flemming said. "When I got the CFL contract and had to tell Coach Mac about it, I told him that I'd always be a Wrangler at heart."
Flemming said the transition was a graceful one thanks to the Wranglers coaching staff and players.
"The team embraced me and that's very unique for a team to embrace a new guy that quick," he said. "Poole has been somewhat of a mentor for me because of his IFL experience and has been teaching me along the way."
Flemming added that the win over the Ice was a complete team effort and recognized quarterback Kewan Dewberry for doing a lot of coaching in the huddle. Other Wranglers contributing to the victory were wide receiver Jason Jones and wide receiver Bobby Chase, both with one touchdown. Linebacker James Lancaster also knocked in 6 points after a fumble recovery from Ice quarterback David Knighton.
The Wranglers will take the field for their regular season finale on Saturday, June 11 at Allen Event Center. The Wranglers are offering $2 beer and hot dogs for all game attendees and will be raffling off inaugural season memorabilia in honor of fan appreciation night. Kickoff against the Bricktown Brawlers is set for 7:05 p.m. For tickets or more information, visit www.allenwranglers.com or call the office at 972-912-3111.
