Chris Lee hauled in a 13-yard touchdown pass from Derrick Dickerson with 5:03 remaining, and Lesly Stone tacked on the conversion run as the North Texas Crunch notched a 41-35 win over the East Texas Wranglers on Monday at the Longview Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena.
The win moves North Texas to 6-1 on the season while the Wranglers drop to 5-2.
After a scoreless first quarter, North Texas built a 13-0 lead on an 11-yard interception return by Frank Brown and a 5-yard run by Tommy Allen, but the Wranglers tied things at the end of the first quarter when Terrance Parks threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Tony Bush with 1:40 to play and then scored from four yards out a minute later.
Both teams scored twice in the third period — with Parks connecting with Demarcus Jenkins on a 20-yard scoring strike and adding a 2-yard run for the Wranglers while Dickerson matched him with a 9-yard TD pass to Shed Harvey and a 2-yard run.
In the fourth, Allen scored on a 4-yard run for the Crunch before Parks scored his third rushing touchdown on a 3-yard jaunt.
Parks passed for 193 yards and rushed for 43 for the Wranglers. Bryan Rogers carried eight times for 54 yards, and Bush led the receiving corps with nine grabs for 76 yards. Blake Warren, Tony Burnett and Demarcus Jenkins all caught four passes.
For the Crunch, Allen rushed for 64 yards, Dickerson passed 98 yards and rushed for 28 and Jesse Shields finished with six catches for 52 yards.
The Wranglers will be back in action at home on Sunday in a 5 p.m. contest against the Southlake Pirates.
