Barons Have Something to Prove, and They’re Following Through.

The Stockton Wolves are getting a wake-up call through the first half of play from a Reno Barons’ defense that had something to prove after losing to Stockton by at least 38 on two occasions this season.
Wolves were first to score, but the Barons came back with 22-unanswered points before the Wolves scored the final touchdown of the half on a long pass to make the score 22-13.
Stockton’s new quarterback Lemue Adams from Florida A&M has thrown two interceptions to Isaac Porter (one of which he returned for a touchdown) and one to Ryan Johnson.
Barons have two offensive touchdowns so far, one on a run from Luke Lipincott and one on a quarterback sneak from Thomas Peregrin. The two-point conversion that followed Pergrin’s TD was immaculate with a four-foot-high leap over a Stockton defender by running back Keithen Valentine.
Stockton was also the victim of a four and out and several sacks that stopped them from capitalizing on a wacky interception at the end of the first half.
Barons’ wide receiver Gabe Hatchett caught a long touchdown pass from Thomas Peregrin in the endzone, but couldn’t hang on as he went bombarding into the sidewall causing him to drop the ball. Before the ball touched the ground, a Stockton defensive back grabbed what was ruled an interception by referees.
The Barons offense would be up by at least 6 more had the play been ruled a touchdown, but with a score of 22-13, they have a comfortable lead heading into the locker room.
“I’m really happy with the tenacity and how they’re attacking the ball,” Barons’ general manager Tim Pierce said. “I just hope we can maintain it in the second half.”
